Get a key

Create a read key.

API keys are managed through the API. The redesigned Cherry app does not yet have a key-management screen. An authorized member can create a key for their active business with the request below, using their signed-in session token.

Save the response’s token once and use it in your MCP client. Keep your session token out of the client config. Use credentials and endpoints from the same environment.

Keys are personal and limited to one business. Owners and admins can create them; other members need API access enabled. Read-only roles can create read keys only. Revoke a key with DELETE /api/agent/api-keys/{id} using your session token. See the authentication reference.

Start with read access. Write access also permits changes to the books and supported formation and EIN workflows, including actions that send documents or incur filing costs. Grant it only for work you have authorized; write access is not a review-only mode.

Connect your client.

Open claude.ai or Claude Desktop.

Go to Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector.

Use the endpoint below only with a connector that can authenticate to Cherry. A URL alone does not grant access.

Hosted connector authentication differs from the API-key examples here. If your connector cannot authenticate, use the Claude Code or Cursor setup.
